Links With Our Community

At our nursery, we work hard to build strong connections within our local community. We aim to offer training opportunities and work experience to high school pupils, helping them learn about early years education.

We also keep parents informed with regular newsletters and through our WhatsApp community group, so you always know what’s happening in the nursery and can join in with events, activities, and important updates.

Our Local Care Home

We are proud to build positive links with our local care home so that children and older members of our community can enjoy meaningful experiences together. These intergenerational connections are really valuable — children often develop confidence, communication, and social skills, and learn about respect and understanding for older people. At the same time, older adults benefit from the joy, energy and conversation that the children bring, helping to boost their wellbeing and sense of connection.

Through regular visits and shared activities like storytelling, singing, creative play and gentle games, we help children and care home residents form friendships, learn from one another, and feel part of the wider community. These experiences support children’s development while bringing smiles and meaningful moments to everyone involved.

Our Local Primary Schools

At KGN, we work hard to build strong connections with local schools to ensure a smooth and positive transition from nursery to primary school. Our children are invited to various school events, and usually in May/June, children visit their new primary school. Staff from the receiving schools also visit the nursery to meet the children, helping everyone feel confident and ready for the next step.

Our nursery is also part of the East Renfrewshire Partnership Forum, attending meetings throughout the year. This gives us opportunities to share ideas, stay up-to-date with developments, and support many aspects of nursery life for the benefit of our children and families.

Working with Parents Through Our Parent Forum

At our nursery, we really value your views and involvement. We believe that parents and carers are important partners in their child’s learning and development, and we want to work together with you to make our nursery the best it can be. Parents in our Parent Forum have the chance to share their ideas, feedback and suggestions to help shape nursery life and support all children.

Being part of the Parent Forum means you can help us understand what matters most to families, help support our nursery activities and improvements, and have your voice heard in a supportive and collaborative way. We aim to work together to strengthen the partnership between home and nursery, improve our practices and ensure all children benefit from positive experiences.
